SPLENDID FLUSH OF CRASS.
[IIY Tl-.F.D,r. U'H.— OWN C<>!!l!KsrONl)EN I - .] T.\ U itANO A, Wednesday.
Early potatoes are now being dug in many gardens at Tauranga, and the quality is excellent. Many crops in tho borough and adjacent country districts are looking very promising. So far blight has not appeared and there is every indication that the yield will be very satisfactory from the crops that will be dug within the next few weeks.
Local farmers are taking advantage of the spell of fine weather to plant their maize crops, and a good acreage will be sown this season. Thero is <1 splendid flush of grass all over the country, the growth being greatly ahead of the corresponding period last year. Iho result should be a substantial increase in butterfat cheques. Many hay paddocks are nearly ready for cutting. Tho trees in the local orchards have withstood several storms very well and present indications are for good crops of stone fruits and apples. The lemon groves havo never looked better.
