NOTES FROM PAEROA.

REPAIRS TO COUNTY ROADS. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH WORK. [by TEi.Efiß.mr.—nwx con respondent. ] TWEROA, \Vednesday. At the monthly meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council the Ohincinuri Gold and Silver Mines Company forwarded a letter from the Mines Department which stated that a grant of £6O was available for tho cost of improving the road leading to the mine. It was understood the Public Works Department held £2OO for repairs to this road. The engineer, Mr. E. Shaw, was instructed to arrange for the necessary repair work. A request from tho Waihi Farmers' Union for the metalling of tho worst portions of tho WaihiWhangamata Uoad was referred to tho engineer for a report. Tho engineer, Mr. E. Shaw, reported that the Hamilton-Paeroa Road was in fair order, with the exception of portion between Paei'oa and Cadman Load. Iwo bridges bad been redeeked and other repair work would lie put in hand as soon as possible. Plans anrf specifications for a new (lain to give increased water supply to I'aeroa had been proposed, and tenders for the work would < lose on November 22. At a. meeting of pig brcedcis Mr. N. \V. Hastings stressed the value to farmers of the. New Zealand Farmers' Pig Marketing Association, which last year had exported 37.000 pigs. The association was now a much bigger concern than originally anticipated, arid in order to put it on a sounder footing organisers had been appointed with the object of getting all the farmers to stand solidly behind the association. At the end "of the meeting a number of those present signified then intention of putting tho whole of their supply this season through the association. At the annual meeting of members of the Presbyterian Church the treasurer, Mr. A. Steed man, reported an expenditure for' the year of £I3OO. A concrete church had been erected at Netherton, and that district had increased its contribution to the centre. The Tirohia contributions had increased and £6O had been contributed to other objects, such as missions and orphanages.
