HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.
Tlio following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us liy Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:—Mainly fair to fine weather is expected in places northward of New Plymouth and Napier, although unsettled at times, wtli occasional showers. Rain is indicated 111 districts southward of the above-mentioned places, especially in areas near (lie west coast. Westerly to south-westerly winds, moderate to strong. Seas mainly moderate, hut fairly o'i the west coast of the North Island, and heavy along the western coasts of the South Island, and in the south-west Tasinan Sea. The Antarctic disturbance, which is intenso in chaiacter, is operating over the South Island, whero unsettled weather predominates. Barometric [iressure shows a decreasing tendency in t In* south. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—A moderate anticyclone is passing the Dominion to tlio northwards. A rather intenso depression is located over eastern Australia and moving eastward. Indications are for winds freshening west to north winds, increasing to pale forco at times in and south of Cook Strait, rough seas south of Cape Egmont and about Cook Strait, elsewhere moderate north-west to northerly winds in the Tasinan Sea, strong in the central and southern portions, with rather rough seas, moderate to fresh in the northern portion. Weather becoming unsottled in western districts, with rain developing, fair to fine at first elsewhere, but unsettled conditions gradually becoming general, with mild temperatures. RAINFALL RECORD.
