AVONDALE WOMEN'S CLUB.
The monthly meeting of the Avondale. Women's Club was held in blockhouse Bay Picture Hall on Tuesday. The president, Mrs. J. W. Kealy, occupied the chair. After business had been disposed of a programme of musical and elocutionary items was given by members and friends. Mrs. Beamish, of Hillsborough, a former member of the club, sang "My Garden," and as au encore "Love's a Merchant." Mrs. E. Armstrong played a violin solo, "l'eu-Follets" (l'apini), and in response to an encore, "Vienneso Air," arranged by Kreisler. Mrs. 11. Bollard, of Avondale, acted as accompanist, and also contributed a pianoforte solo, which was much appreciated. Popular recitations were given by Mrs. Hat-ton and Miss Newton, and a reading by Miss Ingram. Much amusement was caused by a "photo" rom petit ion, in which tho winner was the one who recognised the greatest. number of bygone photos of members. Tea, served by Mesdames Myers and Rigrlen, brought an enjoyable afternoon to a close.
