The advent of the Silver Anniversary Buick " Empire" 4door Sedan marks the third successive year in which Buick has been produced by New Zealand workers for New Zealand purchasers in the Dominion. Three hundred and fifty New Zealand men and women find permanent employment at General Motors' works at Petone; it is one of the Dominion's largest secondary industries: 68% of the money paid for the " Empire " Buick remains in New Zealand. Genera! Motors New Zealand Limited have invested in New Zealand £141,681 in Plant and Equipment. They have paid to New Zealand workers wages totalling £166,120; other amounts expended in the Dominion include £491,660 paid to the New Zealand Government in Customs duties and Railway freights. New Zealand produces many of the supplies used in this building of the " Empire " Buick and other General Motors cars. The expenditure for Now Zealand made supplies and for material used in the operation of General Motors office and factory reaches £160,875, and is increasing each year as local sources for material are found.
