VESSEL SPRINGS LEAK.
CREW IN GRAVE PERIL, TUG COMES TO RESCUE. MELBOURNE. Oct. 25 The wooden steamer Hillmeads, 206 tons, sprang a leak in Bass Strait. Her holds were flooded and tho crew had lost hopo when a pilot steamer came to the rescue with the tug Eagle, and towed the Hillmeads into Port Phillip Bay. The steamer Iron Baron was the first to notice the Hillmeads' plight, and sent a wireless message to a lighthouse keeper.
