ANTICS OF AEROPLANE.
A FORCED LANDING.
OCCUPANTS' LUCKY ESCAPE. !
I'hn extraordinary antics of an aeroplane i over Bowning, New South Wales,- re- ! centlv, caused considerable excitement among residents. t ln making a forced landing the plane struck a drain, partly overturned and damaged the landing "ear and propeller. Neither the pilot nor the | mechanic was injured. The machine, which is the property of » f
!>-,it.e passenger-carrying firm in Melbourne. was returning from Sydney, and when near Bowning it developed engine trouble. Apparently the pilot had difficulty in finding a suitable landing-place. The plane seemed to be out. of control, and it passed over the township at an inuredil.ilv low altitude. For a moment it seemed as though the pilot was going to make a descent in the main street, but the nbine rose again, and eventually humped the ground in a paddock. It then passed over a fence, and came to rest on the dram. The occupants stepped out unhurt, to the amazement of the townspeople.
