"TRIED RECIPES."
The fifth edition of tho Victoria League cookery book, "Tried Hccipcs," has .just boon issued and it can safely bo said that this edition is Iho best of all. It lias been revised from beginning lo end, and there have been added to it over 100 new recipes, every one of which has been tested. One of the particularly helpful features about the edition is the instructions that are ivon lor working gas and electric stoves. An excellent article on diet is included in the book, with valuable information as to food values, and mothers should find the article upon tileal planning for young children particularly lielpful. A number of wheatI meal recipes have been given and not only do all branches of cooking seem to have been provided for but there have been i given as well useful hints lor the housv- ' wife. No pains have been spared in j making the book thoroughly up-to-date, j The profits from lis sale are to be used for helping different organisations m | Auckland, the Victoria League itself not j profiling in any way bv its sale. So I fiir the loaguo has given away £IOOO- - a, really wonderful record.
