Mrs. Lance Tompkins, of Hamilton, is on a visit to Auckland. Miss Yarr, who lias been visiting Auckland, has returned to Tiinaru. Miss Mona Coath, of Epsom, lias roturned from a visit to Rotorua. Mrs. S. Caro, of Tirohanga Avenue, Remuera is on a visit to Wellington. Mrs. F. T. Hill and Miss V. Hill, or Wellington, are visitors to Auckland and are staying at Cargen. Mrs. Ernest Shepherd has returned to Auckland after spending several weeks in the North Auckland districts. Miss Phyllis Jackson, of Parncll, loft yesterday by tho Niagara for Suva, where she will be tho guest of her sister, Mrs. W. Granger-Johnson. Mrs. F. A. Hell a by, of Remuera, wlio has been visiting America, arrived in Wellington by the Makura and 1 ('turned to Auckland early this week. Mr. and Mrs. IT. P. lvissling, accompanied by Miss Kissling, returned yesterday from Wellington, where they attended the wedding on Tuesday of their son, Mr. John lvissling, to Miss Mcßae Peacock. The monthly meeting of the (lleri AHon I and Pukemiro Women's Institute was held !in the Glen Afton Hall recently. Despite a wet evening the attendance, over which Mrs. Molony presided, was fairly good. Business matters occuped a greater part of the evening, and a report of the conference was given by tho delegates, Mrs. Molony and Mrs, Troughear. . A particularly interesting demonstration of rallia work was given by tho Misses Fvfo and Sargood. Supper was. served by tho hostesses, Mesdaines Cairns and Russell. Kir James Gnnson gave an interesting address to a representative gathering of ' ladies at Glen Eden on Tuesday, Mrs. j Uoutley taking the chair. Mrs. Carr llol- ] lett, of Titirangi, also spoke, giving a very ! able address on the needs of the women and children in the Dominion, outlining nil that tho Reform Government has done and what remains still to be done. She was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Several questions appertaining to tin; district wore satisfactorily answered by Sir James Gunson, who received a unanimous vote of thanks and confidence. Res-, newed confidence in the Reform Government was expressed. A largo number of residents of tho Rangiriri district assembled at the Pavilion Theatre, Rangiriri, on Saturday evening, when a dance was held in honour ot Mr. H. Do Thierry's approaching marriage. Tho music was supplied by Mrs. Reston. piano, Mr. Scholium, cornet, and Mr. Taylor, violin. Extras were played by Mrs. and Miss Pulham, Miss Mills arid Dr. Isdale. During the evening Mr. R. Metcalle presented Mr. Do Thierry and his prospective bride, Miss Ryrie, with a hand-cut glass | condiment set, a crystal cream jug and sugar bowl as a token of esteem those present, and wished them every success and happiness in their new sphere of life. Mr. Do Thierry suitably responded, thanking the donors for i heir ; gifts and good wishes. ' The Tui Glee Club closed its activities by holding a social in Wright's Hall recently. Presentations were made to Mr. Baker, choirmaster, and Mrs. W. H. Tongue, one of the members. Reference was made to the good work of tho club in visiting the various institutions.
