APPEAL FOR POOR PARISHES. GIFT FOR- CATHEDRAL BELL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Wednesday. The standing committee of the Waikato diocese met yesterday, Bishop Cherrington presiding. It was. decided to issue a special appeal for funds for the assistanco of the poorer parishes on November 4. It was stated that about £BOO was needed. Satisfactory reports were received concerning the progress of the Waikato Diocesan School for Girls from the Board of Governors. More accommodation is required to meet the growth in numbers. Advice was received that a little over £2500 would be available from the late Miss Mcpherson's estate for the provision of a bell and choir vestry at th« cathedral. Bishop Cherrington said he was making inquiries in England regarding the cost of a bell, which would make one of a peal of bells. The standing committee unanimously decided to subscribe to a memorial for Dr. R. T. Davidson, who is retiring from the position of Archbishop of Canterbury. The meeting approved of the appointment of the Rev. F. A. Bennett as Suffragan Bishop of Waiapu.
