LOST WALLET TRICK.
NEW ZEALANDER IN LONDON. BETTING PLAN THAT FAILED. Australian olid N.Z Press Association VANCOUVER. Oct. IG. By becoming a victim to tho wallet trick Mr. Bryan Lewis, a New Zealand visitor, lost £46 to confidence men. He found a wallet containing valuable papers, which ho returned to two men.
The owners showed their gratitude by introducing him to a "sure thing" betting system which failed. They then tried to persuade Mr. Lewis to send a cablegram to New Zealand for £2400, which he had deposited there. He took tho men to an oflico on the pretence of sending the cablegram, and promised to meet them later. When he. returned with the police the men had fled.
