THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE GOOD VOLUME OF BUSINESS.

A considerable volume of business in a wide variety of '.nvestnients took place on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Local body loans were again in much demand, but there were very few sellers on the mwrket, and wheix# they appeared margins were wide. Inscribed Stock, 192741, per ee.it.. changed hands at £99, as compared with £9B 17s 6(1 at the beginning of July. The price of £99 was also paid for the 1933, 5; per cent, issue of Inscribed S4ock. A sale of New Zealand Farmers' Co-opera-tive of Canterbury stock, 1940, 6J per cent., was mado at £94 55.. In banking thero was very little variation in quotations. Buyers of New Zealands advanced slightly to offer 61s 3d at tho late call, sellers 61s 6d. In insurance New Zoalartds, which changed hands earlier in tho week at 45s 3d, sold at 45s 6d In coals Renown Collieries, ordinary, showed a sharp advance, and sold at 15s and 15s 3d at the first two calls. The price last week was 13s 6d. Tile market closed with i!nqim*y at 15s and no sellers. In gas business was again done in Aueklands at Z3s Id. In miscellaneous £62 was offered for Colonial Sugars in tho morning, but buyers afterwards withdrew to £6l 10s. Sellers stood at £62 10s. San fords changed hands at the moHt recent rate of 18s. In mining Ohinemuros showed a docliue from 7s last week to a saio at 6» 9d yesterday Thero was further demand at 6s 9d, sellers 7s. Tho following sales took place:—New Zealand Inscribed Stock, 1927-41, 5i per cent., £99; New Zealand Inscribed Slock, 1933, per cent., £99; New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative of Canterbury, 1940, 6i per cent., £94 ss; New Zealand Insurance, 45s 6d; Renown Collieries, ordinary, 15s, 15s 3d; Auckland Gas, 23s Id; Sanford, Ltd., 18s; Ohinemuri, 6s 9d.
