GRAFTON BRIDGE SUICIDE.

OPENING OF THE INQUEST. AN INEXPLICABLE ACTION. No reason for the action of Mr. Arthur George Taylor, who jumped from the parapet of Grafton Bridge on Tuesday afternoon, could bo advanced afc the inquest concerning his death, which was opened before IMr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., coroner, yesterday. Mr. Taylor was .1 butcher by trade, but recently had been conducting a small fruit and confectionery business at 529, New North Road, Morningside, where he lived with his; wife and family. Giving evidence of identification at the inquest,' Mrs. Eclith Taylor, wife of the deceased, said she last saw her husband at about ten o'clock on Tuesday morning when ho was leaving for tho city markets. He was in good health and spirits. As far as sho knew he had 110 financial worries, and was on good terms with all his friends and relations. Ho was a veteran soldier of tho imperial Forces, and had resided in New Zealand for threo and a-half years. Tho inquest will be continued this morning.
