DEER STALKING.

DATE OF SEASON FIXED. The regulations and season for shooting red and fallow deer in the Auckland acclimatisation district were discussed by the society at its meeting last evening. A number of letters were read from sub-societies urging tho adoption of widely-differing dates and expressing divergent views. Mr. T. S. Withers suggested the sea son for fallow deer should be from April 1 to May 30. the licence fee to be £1 and sportsmen to be allowed to take three bucks, not less than eight pointers, and two does [n the case of red deer, only eight licences should be granted at £.3 each, one man being allowed to hold not more than one licence, while the season should extend for one month only, from April 1 to April 30.
