ELLIS CUP FINAL ROUND.

HAMILTON. Thursday. The final of the Ellis Cup competition, the principal event in the Hamilton Ludiej' Golf Club's tournament, was played rvt St. Andrew's links this morning and won by Miss O. Kay (Dunedin) who defeated Mins S. Acheson (Nelson), 1 up. A stymie sit the last hole proved the deciding factor in a well-contested match, in which the margin between the players was never moire than two up. In spite of a strong .westerly breeze both players slowed remarljable skill. The respective cards were:—Miss Kay, out: 3. 5. 5. 5, 4. 4, 6. 5. 7—44. In: 3, 4. 6. 6. 5. 7. 5, 5, 4—45. Miss Acheson. out: 3, 5, 5, 4. 4, 4, 7, 5. 6—13. In: 4. 4. 5. 7, 3. 5. —, G.. 5.
The first hole was halved in 3's and th<* second and third in s's. Miss Acheson took the fourth with 4 to. 5. The fifth and sixth holes were halved in 4's. Miss Kay won the long seventh. G--7, leaving the match all square. No advantage was gained at the eighth, but Miss Acheson won the ninth, G—7. At the 10th Miss Kay made a eood recovery and won the hole, 3 —t. Tho 11th was halved in 4's and tho I2tli was won by Miss Acheson, 5--G. Miss Kay won the 13th hole. 6—7. Miss Acheson won tho 14th and loth, and was '2 up. Miss Acheson was obliged to rick up her ball ;at the 16th and lost the hole, leaving her 1 up. Miss Kay took tho 17th, s—o. and they were all square. From tho IStli tee Miss Kay got a long ball, and her ball was slightly in the rough. Miss Aeheson's drive was considerably shorter, but on tho fairway. Both seconds were nicely on the green. Miss Kay's ball was nearer the pin. Miss Aeheson's approach putt was slightly short, and Miss Kay, with her approach putt, stymied her opponent. Miss Acheson failed with her putt and .Miss Kay took tho holo in 4—5 and with it the match.
