NARCISSI CHALLENGE CUP.

GIFT OF BRITISH GROWERS. A large silver gift cup has been presented to tho National Daffodil Society of Now Zealand by 20 British raisers of narcissi, who each subscribed £5 toward the cost of the cup. The cup, which is for annual competition, boars the following inscription:— " Tho British Challenge Cup, presented by British raisers to lovers of the flower in Now Zealand for narcissi raised in tho British Islos and exhibited in New Zealand. Far from Homo and yet at Home." Now Zealand-bred seedlings are thus not eligible to compote. The plants exhibited must come directly from bulbs grown in England. Inscribed on the base of tho cup are the names of tho donors. There aro also five small replicas, ono of which will be presented to tho winner each year. The cup is an exact replica of ono of The three presented by the House of Commons to tho President of Ihe French Republic during tho reign of King Edward VII. It was at that time specially selected as representative of (he best British silversmith's work.
