JAPANESE CATASTROPHE. HUNDREDS OF LIVES LOST. FISHERMEN TAKEN UNAWARES. MANY SHIPS IN DISTRESS. Aiistrnlian mid N.Z. Press Association. (Received October 10. 7.5 p.m.) TOKIO. Oct. 10. Many hundreds of fishermen havo been drowned and severe casualties havo been suffered among coastal shipping in a typhoon. No warning of the disturbance was received. Several niearners havo sent out wireless messages of distress. Cruisers and destroyers havo been despatched to their assistance.
