STOCKS AND SHARES.
THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. INSURANCE SHARES EASIER. Average business, distributed pvor ft fairly wide variety of shares, was done on tho Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Current offers were renewed for most classes of Government securities, but holders did not respond as freely as usual, and no business resulted. In local body debenture issues Mount Eden Boroughs, 1061. 52 per cent., found a buyer at £lOl 10s, an advance of 10s on the preceding transaction in May. The banking section was quieter than usual, quotations showing littlo change. Tho only sale was in Unions, which were dono at the ruling rate of £ls 6s, 'ln insurance New Zealands changed hands at 455. a drop of threepence on last week's figure. South British were also easier, being done at 62s 6d. against 62s lOd at tho previous sale three weeks ago. In loan and agency Farmers' Co-opera-tive Auctioneerings had sale at 655, tho first transaction for a long period. Goldsbrough, Morts could bo had at 51s 3d, tho prico paid earlier in tho week, buyers 50s 6d.
In miscellaneous tho ordinary Issue of Electrolytic Zincs changed hands at, 32s 6d, with further inquiry at that figure. The price recently ruling was 335. Hayward's Pictures appreciated threepence on the recent level to sell at 20s 9d at the second and third calls. Wilsons Cements had the first sale for a month, tho price of 39s 3d, obtained at two calls, being an advance of threepence. In mining Ohinemuris dropped fourpence on the recent level to sell at 7s 4d, while Waihis were done at 14s 2d, against 14s 3d on Tuesday, more boing available at tho market price.
