ONERAHI TOWN BOARD.
APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. fl WHANGAREI. Wednesday. At the first meeting of the newlyelected Onerahi Town Board last evening, Mt E. L. Whimp was appointed chairman. At the outset Mr. Whimp proposed the retiring chairman, Mr. Holmes. This was seconded by Mr. Wilkinson, but Mi. Holmes declined nomination on the ground that, not being resident in tho township, lie was not able fully to carry out his 'duties, particularly in regard to social and local matters. He then proposed Mr. Whimp. Mr. Wilkinson withdrew his seconding of tho first proposal and said he wished, in tho circumstances, to support Mr. Whimp's candidature. Tho motion that Mr. Whimp.be chairman for the coming term was then carried unanimously. . , At (lie conclusion, (lie chairman moved the placing on record of tho valuable work done by Mr. Holmes during his term of office, and (his was carried unanimously. '
