TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. Tho following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-flay was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—Squally and unsettled weather is indicated, with rain over most of tho Dominion. Heavy rain, with flooded rivers, is expected in west coast districts of the South Island. Thero is a tendency for thunderstorms, accompanied by hail, in places bordering on tho west coast. Westerly to north-westerly winds, strong to Rale, and very boisterous in southern areas. Tho intense Antarctic disturbance centred in tho southern Tasinan Sea still maintains its energy and very stormy weather is indicated between Australia and New Zealand. Rough to heavy seas in the area south-westward of tho Dominion, gradually extending to tho west coasts of tho Dominion. Tho general outlook indicates exceptionally boisterous, wintry weather, tho southern portion of tho Dominion being particularly affected. Heavy westerly 1% north-westerly gales are expected in places near jthe west coast of both islands during tho next few days. Very low barometric pressure still rules on tho southern Tasinan' Sea, pressuro in sonic areas being tho lowest recorded in many years. Barometer, midnight, falling .. 2D.Bsin. Tho Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A weak anticyclone is located north of .New Zealand, while there is a series of very intenso low pressure waves of tho westerly type covering most of tho Dominion, tho Tasman Sea and Southern Australia, Indications arc for strong north to west winds to gales over New Zealand and the Tasinan Sea, with generally rough seas and becoming heavy on tho west coast of the South Island. Weather unsettled and squally with rain in most districts, but mainly scattered on the east coast. Heavy falls in Wcstland and Otago and tho ranges of the South Island, with somo flooding.
