THE VARIOUS POLITICAL PARTIES

Sir, —When one takes up his paper in the mqrning to study the political situation it is a rather difficult proposition. We have the Reform, Labour, United, Country, Independent and Liberal up to going to press, but probably will have a few more parties before election time. Nov; the parties that are really genuine are tho two firstnamed. The politics of ' tho Country Party, as far as I could understand from what Sir. Poison said, is to watch for a question on which there will probably be a close division find then throw in their vote to the party that will ' promise them an agricultural bank and other concessions, whether good for tho country as a whole or not is another question. By this system the tail would wag " the dog instead of the dog wagging the tail. Very clever, but easily seen through. ■ Labour has an unmistakable policy. Take all you can from the other fellow, reduce taxation and increaso expenditure, shorten the hours of labour, 'give larger wages , and cheaper food. All good ideas, but difficult to carry out. The policy of tho United Party is to disrupt all the other parlies. The Independent, in scriptural language, "is all things to all men." The Liberal Party, which consisted of ono, who has now thrown his talents into the United camp, is practically extinct. There is only one course for a sane voter, and that is to # vote either Reform or Labour. Tho leader's of all these different parties cannot soe any chqjice of distinction in the Reform Parly, and prefer tho chance of reigning in hell to serving in heaven. Francis Hull.
