TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 ;i*in. to-day was supplied to us I>v Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:— Mai illy fair to fine weather is indicated in northern and east coast districts, but unsettled at times, with occasional showers. Showery weather is expected in places near the west coast and in southern areas. Heavy rain, with flooded rivers, on the west coast of the South Island. Westerly to south-westerly winds, moderate to strong, squally at times, in districts northward of New Plymouth arid Napier, and north-westerly winds, strong to gale, ruling in llic south, ltough seas on the southern Tasman Sea ■ and the west coast, mainly moderate elsewhere, although fairly rough off-shore on the east coast. The intense Antarctic disturbance is still located south-westward of the Dominion, where barometric pressure is very low. Owing to relatively high pressure influences, the disturbance is not affecting the northern portion of the Dominion to any great extent. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows.—The westerly type of weather still prevails. A low pressure wave crossed the Dominion early this morning, but another very deep depression is located in tho western Tasman Sea. The Sydney barometer at 3 p.m. was 29. loin. Indications arc for strong north to north-west winds, reachin"' gale force at places in and south of Cook Strait Seas rough south of Capo Egmont and rather rough swell south of Castlepoint. Elsewhere moderately strong north-west to westerly winds, to gales ill the eastern Tasman, with rough to high seas. Weather unsettled with rain on the west coast of tho South Island. Elsewhere temporarily fair, but again becoming unsettled shortly, with some rain in most districts. Thunder probable .'n places and warm temperatures. rainfall record.
