Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Boberton left yesterday by the Marama for Sydney en route to the East.
Mr. H. T. Merritt, president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, has left fcr the South. Sir William Hall-Jones is returning to New Zealand by the Corinthic, due at Wellington on Monday, August 27. Father C. C. Martindale, of London, and Father H. F. Holbrook, of Auckland, left by the Marama for Sydney yesterday. Sir Walter Stringer will leave for Wellington to-morrow evening to preside at the sittings of the War Pensions Appeal Board there. Mr. H. B. Burnett, superintendent to the Auckland Harbour Board, will leave for Helensville to-day on a short holiday. Mrs. Burnett will accompany him. Mr. W. S. Rowe, of Christchurch, Mr.F. W. Granger and Mr. L. N. Biss, of Wellington, and Mr. C. Marsack, of Masterton, are at the Star Hotel. Mr. G. Gascoyne, of Hamilton, Mr. W. Warbrick, Mr. F. Burt and Mr. T.Anderson, of Matata, and Mr. A. Luke, of Whakatane, are at the Royal Hotel. Mr. K. A. Allen, of Remuera, who for the past four years has been attending the Otago TJniversity, Dunedin, left for Wellington last Thursday to join the Rotorua for London. Mr. Allen intends studying at London University, and will bo away for about three years.
