COMPETITIONS FESTIVAL.
OPENING NEXT WEEK. A varied programme lias been prepared for tho annual festival of the Auckland Competitions Socioty, which will commence in the Embassy Theatre on Thursday next. Nearly 2000 pertoi'mers have entered, including sorno of the most talented artists in the Dominion. The programmes will include vocal and instrumental items, humour, character I'ecitals, choir pieces, quartettes and dancing. In view of the size of the programmes it will be necessary to commence tho day sessions at 10 o'clock each morning and continue until six o'clock each evening. Evening sessions will begin at 7.45.
