WOMEN'S CONFERENCE.

PLACE IN PUBLIC AFFAIRS. DOMINIONS AND THE FUTURE. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received August 17, 5.5 p.m.) HONOLULU. Aug. 17. The section on Government of the PanPacific Women's Conference under the leadership of Mrs. C. A. Fraer {New Zealand), after speeches by Mrs. Rischbeith and Miss Eleanor Moore (Ausdecided informally that America as a vrorld Power had ■ taken a definite step forward for eliminating war through the Kellogg Ireaty. It was also decided that women's activities should play a definite part in the operation of the League of Nations. The chairman of the Australian delegation, Mrs. B. M. Rischbeith, addressing the conference to-day gave a comprehensive survey of the movement to increase women's influence in Government throughout the world. They demanded an intelligent interest by women in public affairs.

The speaker said New Zealand, Australia and the United States had the greatest democracy and gave women the greatest voice in affairs, hut their condition would be unsatisfactory until more women were in Parliaments and cabinets. Mrs. Rischbeith said: "Wo believe that as America was the miracle of the 19th century, so New Zealand and Australia will be the miracle of the 20lh century. We cannot hopo for the penetration of women into the higher stages of affairs before the next generation.
