CENTRE POLE STRUCK.
LORRY-DRIVER INJURED. A motor-lorry driver, Mr. Samuel McBride, aged 41, employed by the Avondale Timber Company, sustained internal injuries early yesterday afternoon when the lorry skidded and struck a tramway centre-pole at the intersection of Hobson Street and Fanshawe Street. He was conveyed to the Auckland Hospital, where an operation was performed. His condition was stated last evening to be fairly serious. Mr. Mcßride is married, and resides at Kacecourse Parade, Avondaie. Damage -vvas done to the front of the lorry.
