THE OLD SEA CAPTAIN.
Ho is the last of all men, living, Who sailed the coast in 'sixty-threo; Now, in a room with window giving On his one ancient friend, the sea. Forgetting younger men, now cities, Half-freed from lifo ho lies abed, Sings songs "from unfamiliar ditties, And talks with comrades long since dead. If men could guess what dreams are going Forever, through his stricken bvain— With what a brave sou'-wester blqwing Ho sets his ship to sea again. What dawns, what sunsets he recovers, In what proud youth, what fire of limb, He clutches to him long-lost lovers — They would not mourn, but envy him. K.F.G. in Sydney Morning Herald,
