THE COMFORT SHIP.

GOOD WORK BY HERALD BRIGADE There was most encouraging evidence this week that the Heuaxd Brigade was still working enthusiastically for tho Comfort Ship, for, in addition to a number of welcome parcels, there was a sheaf of letters containing donations amounting to over £2O! I cannot tell yon how delighted we were to receive such a splendid addition to our Good Cheer Fund, for last time I wrote, parcels and donations had fallen off. Tho best donation during the past two weeks was one of £9 4s. 3d., tho proceeds of a Street stall organised by the Taneatua school children. They had been working for the staJl for a long time, writes Oiilcie, many girls doing sewing, and the boys bringing vegetables, otc. Some of the mothers contributed cakes and sweets, and the school teacher aiso gave a lot of help. I only wish I could have seen all my unknown friends busily at work at their stall, and' have thanked them all personally for their interest and enthusiasm ! The children of Sfassey Birdwood school organised a " Bazaarrette" which brought in no less a sum than £4, while Ollie and Alex went out on a house-to-house collection in Ngatea for the Ship, and got £1 14s. 6d. The pvipils of Pukekawa school sent in a lino parcel, and also a donation.

Special mention must he made of one parcel received this week, I think the best we have had this winter,, containing over twenty beautifuly knitted little "woollies" and bonnets for the babies, from " Auntie Nell." This was indeed a splendid addition to the loading of our Ship! I must also tell you of a parcel and donation of ten shillings from Joan, who has been in hospital for fifteen weeks. She made several little garments herself, and sold some of her fancy work for the Ship. I am sure you will all join with me in wishing Joan a speedy recovery! A fine bag of lemons from the Massey Birdwood school children, and a nice lot of apples from our good friends, Aunts Emily and Mill, completed the latest loading of the Ship. Our cordial thanks to all these generous friends! Good Cheer Fund: Proceeds Taneatua School children's stall, per Dulcie Sisam, £0 4a. 3d; Massey Birdwood School " Bnzaarette," £i per H. M.
