THE BOX WARDROBE.

Many boys, and girls, too, who are handy with a few. tools would find the ' making of the packing-case wardrobe in the illustration quite within their powers. The wardrobe itself is an article of furniture quite ornamental enough, with the addition of the flowered cretonne curtain, to have place in the bedroom of the most fastidious young person, and its usefulness goes without saying. Eight kerosene or petrol cases must first be procured, and planed and sand-papered until perfectly smooth and even. Then the cases may be painted or varnished, inside and out, if liked, or they may be left in their natural state. If the wardrobe is

likely to get rough usage it is advisable to screw or nail the cases together, otherwise they may just be piled on top of one anothr, as the -picture shows. The next thing is to procure a length of three-ply wood, long enough to reach from end to end of the two stacks of boxes. This forma the top of the wardrobe, and! it is screwed or nailed to the top boxes at each end. Next, screw a cup-hook intoeach of the two top boxes, half-way across, and, taking a short wooden curtain rod, make a little hole at each end, and press the rod into place, on the hooks. This is to tako coat-hangers, as the picture shows. A thin wood or brass rod placed across the top edge of the wardrobe makes the hanging of the curtain by rings a simple matter,"and the curtain then pulls across with case. A narrow frill at the top covers rings and rod, and gives a prettv finish to a piece of -workmanship of which the young worker may be proud.
