A PALACE JUBILEE.
FIFTY YEARS' SERVICE. The completion of half a century of service in the King's household will be celebrated by Mr. Edward Hariimett, Groom of tho Chamber, on August 23. Mr. Hainmett, who is 73, first entered tho King's service in the capacity of a groom to tho Master of tho Horse, and went from that post through the various grades of service in the Royal mews to an appointment under tho Master of the Household inside the house. Ho was soon promoted to be footman, and rose step by step to his present responsible position. Although Mr. Ilammett is long past the retiring age there is little likelihood that he will be called on to give up-his occupation, -as tho King likes lo have people about him who are used Id his ways, and no one knows these hotter- than Mr. Hammett.
