BODY IN PADDOCK.
FATE OF A FARMER. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAIHAPE, Monday. The body of Mr. Patrick Murphy, aged 67, a highly respected farmer, of Omatane, near Taihape, was found in a paddock near his home yesterday morning. Ho was lying face downwards and holding in his left hand a shotgun containing an undischarged cartridge. Mr. Murphy informed his neighbours on' Saturday that he intended to shoot a stray dog which had been giving trouble ou his farm, and it is presumed that he was looking for the dog when he dropped dead. An inquest will bo held to-morrow.
