WOMEN'S GOLF TITLE.

FINAL ROUND AT SYDNEY. VICTORY OF MRS. GATEHOUSE. (Received August 10, 10.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 10. In the final of tho women's golf championship to-day Mrs. Gatehouse (Victoria) defeated Miss McLeod (Victoria), 9 up and 8 to play. The winner's stroke round was 77, which equalled tho record established by Miss Olive Kay (Now Zealand) and Miss McLeod earlier in the tournament.

PLAY IN SEMI-FINAL. BRILLIANT DISPLAY GIVEN. SYDNEY. Aug. 10 The Sydney newspapers describe the semi-final in the women's golf championship between Miss McLeod and Miss Olive Kay, of New Zealand, as being the finest exhibition of match play ever seen in tho women's championship. Greater steadiness on the greens was primarily responsible for Miss McLeod's victory. Both players gave almost faultless displays of driving, and obtained wonderful length. There was little between them in this respect, but Miss McLeod was easily the stylist of the pair, getting the ball away smoothly. Her was inclined to punch the ball away. Miss Kay played many exquisite pitch and run strokes, but the gem of the day was , provided by Miss McLeod. Her pitch stroke that won the 15th holo was perfect. The match was watched by a record gallery.
