RUGBY LEAGUE TEST.
ENGLAND V. NEW ZEALAND
BRIGHT GAME ANTICIPATED. DUFTY AGAINST SULLIVAN. The first test match of its tour will be played by the English Rugby League team at Carlaw Park this afternoon against New Zealand. The last occasion on which an English team visited the- Dominion the New Zealanders won two of fhe three tests played. After winning the rubber against Australia the touring team is out to regain the honour against New Zealand and a great game is anticipated to-day. The tourists have already proved themselves a fine combination, but if New Zealand adopts the right game the scores should bo closer than is generally expected.
Two or three surprises were caused when the selection of the New Zealand team was announced. List was certainly very fortunate to gain the centre position, while the vanguard must be a great one when a player of the calibre of A. Scott fails to find a place even among the emergencies.
Followers cf the code have always looked forward to a duel between the two fullbacks for to-day's match, Dufty and Sullivan. The capabilities of both players are very well known, and some splondid kicking should be witnessed. Sullivan holds a high opinion of Dufty as a fullback. The match will commence at three o'clock and Mr. L. Bull will be the referee.
