GENERAL ELECTION.
THE FRANKLIN SEAT. UNITED PARTY CANDIDATE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PUKEKOHE, Friday. Mr. C. K. Lawrie, of Pukekohe, has announced his intention of contesting the Franklin seat in tho TFnited Party s interests. Mr. Lawrie is' a former Mayor of Pukekohe, and holds office in various local institutions. He is also district coroner, and a member of the Franklin Licensing Committee.
NEW REFORM LEAGUE BRANCH. WORKERS AT PUREWA CAMP. A branch of the' New Zealand Political Reform League was formed at the Public Works camp, Purewa, this week. At its first meeting the branch unanimously passed the following resolution:—"This first meeting of the Purewa Branch of the Reform* League, composed of wageearners, wishes to place 011 record its appreciation of the Prime Minister's excellent work in advancing the general interests of the Public Works employees. Further, we pledge our loyal support to Mr. Coates, New Zealand's first nativeborn Prime Minister."
