AUSTRALIAN CRUISER.
PRINCE OF WALES' VISIT
Australian and N.Z. Press Association. LONDON, June 28.
The Prince of Wales to-day paid a visit to the Commonwealth cruiser Australia at Portsmouth. The visit was a private one, but this did not prevent ceremonial touches being imparted to the occasion. A Eoval salute was fired and on all the ships in the harbour bunting was hoisted. His lioyal Highness boarded the Australia and the ship was manned to receive him. He was piped aboard by the boatswains' bugles. Admiral Hyde presented the officers to the Prince, who shook hands with them and then went to the quarterdeck, where the crew filed past him. The admiral piloted the Royal visitor round the decks, the Prince complimenting him on the spruce appearance of the ship and describing her as a very smart vessel.
