TE KUITI RACING CLUB.

MEETING AT ELLERSLIE. TO-DAY'S PROGRAMME. The To Kuiti Racing Club's meeting opens at Ellerslie to-day, and, with a prospect of the weather proving fane, there is reason to anticipate a good day's sport, for the acceptances for the seven events forming the t>rogramme are all round very satisfactory. The leading event of to-day's progrnmmo ia tho Te Kuiti Handicap, in which 22 horses are engaged, and tho issue is so very open that it is sure to form the channel of spirited speculation. The following is a list of the horses engaged in tho various events:

REVIEW OF THE FIELDS. BY ARCHER. The Hunters' Hurdles has attracted a useful field. The topweight. Clockwork, has raced creditably lately, but he may be held safe by Pukerimu, whose latest form bas been very encouraging. Importer also reads nicely placed, while Ramblin' Kid, and Marita may be lightweight possibilities. Pukerimu will probably start a good favourite, with Importer and Clockwork also in demand.

There is material for a good contest in tho Awakino Handicap. Flying Juliet may find her weight a steadying load m the heavy going and on their latest form c Koroke, Hyde Park and Archeen all read better. Waltzer and Harbour View aro partial to heavy going and may be the pick of the lightweights. The public may show a preference for Hyde Park, Te Koroke and Archeen.

The Te Kuiti Handicap has a very open aspect. High Pitch, Sir Archie and Eden Hall have raced below form lately, but will relish the conditions and may show improvement. Queen Arch is a recent winner, while King Emerald and Thursby were responsible for' good efforts in similar company earlier in the month. Mervette, Tinokoa and Day Guard can all run a good mile and may also have to be reckoned with. Fancies are likely to take a wide range, with Thursby, King Emerald and Sir Archie among the best backed.

A moderate field will contest the Piopio Hurdles. Potoanid is ineligible and m his absence King Amans, who looks well, will be topweight. Farndon is a likely customer, although lack of recent racing may be against him. Archeno and Marble Mount shaped creditably at headquarters earlier in tho month and should find this class to their liking. Bahadur and Bright Day may also be possibilities. King Amans, Marblo Mount and Archeno may claim most support.

The class engaged in the Otorohanga Steeplechase is not good. Tho topweights, Royal Form and Pouri, aro probably a class above tho others and that may count. Mangani, Bahepoto and Star of tho East have possibilities, although, like Bahadur, who ran two creditable races ft few weeks ago, they might relish a shorter journey. Pouri, Royal Form and Star of the East may bo tho popular fancies. The To Kumi Handicap has attracted a largo field. Golden Wedding has been working nicely and Ran si Kokiri ran well at his last start. Glendowio should run a mile well enough to have a chance, but may not ran. Brampton and Mountain Guide havo lately shown signs of improvement, and other possibilities may bo Glena Boy, Komak and Eager Hose. Kangi Kokiri, Golden Wedding and Glena Boy may be tho best supported.

There is a useful field encaged in 'he Stewards' Handicap. King Lu carries weight well and is good under winter conditions. Hoariri and Te Monanui may require a race, but Dave has come on lately. Lorient 11. is nicely placed, and of the other lightweights Tinokoa and Town Bird read best. Lorient 11., King Lu and I>ave may command attention. SECOND DAY'S EVENTS. The second day's racing is fised for Monday next and the events of the programme are as follows:—King Country Hurdle Race (two miles), Hangatiki Handicap (seven furlongs), Waitomo Handicap, (one mile). Mokau Handicap (seven furlongs), Maniapoto St.eeplecbaso (about three miles), Mairoa Handicap (li miles), and Farewell Handicap (six furlongs).
