GIRL'S LONELY DEATH.
Sir,—My first letter strove to* deal with the attitude of a professed Christian to a sinner, quite apart from the just punishment of an evil deed. No sane person advocates escape from punishment for wrongdoing, but, that is another question. " Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord, I will repay," and He does, too, often through man's tribunal, the Court of Justice. It must be a fine thing to walk the straight and narrow path without cant and hypocrisy, but how much finer to help others to walk there too. Man on the Street.
» Sir, —I heartily agree with the Rev. J. J. North in advocating punishment for this man. Unitl a law comes into force 10 inaKe a man fulfil his ooxiganons and have his name entered on registration form as well as the single mother's, tires n crimes against our sex will grow instead of lessen. With reference to "Man on the Street." no church attendances can he swelled by leading Christians tolerating crimes of this kind. ' A Mother.
Sir, —I read the Rev. J. J. North's letter and heartily endorse every word ot' it. As to "Man on the Street," 1 read his with dismay and disgust. He says "Perhaps if many of our leading Christians were a little more tolerant." Does he mean that Christians should tolerate such a happening, make light of it and allow the man to get off scot free, to try his tricks yet again. Emphatically not. In niv estimation this is one of the saddest, withal most brutal, cases I have ever read. God help the women of New Zealand if " Man on the Street" had his way. A MOTHEII.
