THE PARNELL CLUB.
A MOTION REGARDING FINANCE. The annual report of the Parnell Lawn Tennis Club showed that the past season was an exceptionally good one from a playing point of view. Not ono single Saturday's play was missed by members during the whole season, and this musl be a record. Daylight saving had been a boon to members on week nights. The following officers were elected for the ensuing season:—Patron, Archbishop Averill; president, Mr. R. J. Coates; vice-presidents, Dr. Kinder, Messrs. ft. Clay, J. P. Stevenson, W. Pavitt; committee, Messrs. C. C. Chalmers. E. I'ishworth, A. S. Lamb, T. J. Gould ; honorary ground superintendent, Mr. G. IT. Baker; honorary auditor, Mr. G. N. G Morris; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr. V. Clay.
The results of the club matches were as follows:—Men's championship singles. Mr. C. C. Chalmers (cup donated by Mr, W. A. Home); ladies' championship singles, xMiss M. Potter (trophy donated by the president) ; men's handicap singles Mr. V. Clay (trophy donated by Mr. G. V. Angvvin) ; ladies' handicap singles, Miss C. L. Wells; men's handicap doubles. Messrs. H. Clay and W. R. C. Williams; ladies' handicap doubles, unfinished, final to be played off between Misses' Miller and Frankham. and Misses Craig and Gill; men's championship doubles, Messrs. H. Clay and W. R C. Williams: combined championship doubles. Miss J. Macindoe and Mr. W. R. C. Williams; combined handicap doubles, Miss C. L. Wells and Mr. A. M. Colliding. The following motion was carried: — That the amount of £l2l 8s 7d now standing to the club's credit at the Auckland Savings Bank be called a sinking fund account, to be utilised for maintenance of pavilion, erection of new pavilion, or purchase of suitable playing ground, at some future date, at the discretion of the committee for the time being, and at each future annual general meeting, if deemed advisable, a sum to be decided upon at such meeting shall lie transferred! to the above mentioned sinking fund account.
