MR. THEODORE'S SEAT.
ALLEGATIONS OF BRIBERY. DENIAL BEFORE COMMISSION. (Received June 18, 8.20 p.m.) CANBERRA. Juno 18. The Royal Commission set up to inquire into the bribery charges made by Mr. William H. Lambert, Labour member of the House of, Representatives for [West Sydney, resumed its sittings to-day. Mr. Lambert's allegation was that iwhen Mr. E. G. Theodore, formerly Premier of Queensland, was looking for a cafe Labour seat 18 months ago he (Mr. Lambert) was offered a bride of £BOOO by a former supporter of tho Labour Party to resign his seat to Mr. Theodore. Ho declined to do this, although tho money "was very tempting. Mr. 'lheodore, he said, was afterwards provided with the Dalley seat, Mr. W. G. Mahony making .way for him. Mr. Theodore, who was recalled, said he had never given Mr. Mahony any money consideration in order to secure the latter*s resignation. The only money he had given him was £2OO and a further Bum of £5. Both these amounts were subscriptions to Mr. Mahony's testimonial.
