POLICE COURT NEWS.
KEG OF BEER STOLEN. FINE IMPOSED ON MAORI. While the barman was busily engaged serving in a hotel at Devonport on Saturday, Turoa Simon, a Maori labourer, aged 33, rolled a five-gallon keg of beer out of the hotel. Charged in the Police Court yesterday with theft Simon pleaded guilty and was fined £2. George Russell, aged 24, ship's painter, and Elva Eilen Russell, aged 20, were charged with having obtained £4 10s and a suitcase, valued at 10s, with a valueless cheque for £5. Both accused were remanded to appear on Friday.
