MOUNT EDEN FIRE BRIGADE
SUPERINTENDENT TO RESIGN. It was reported to the Mount Eden Borough Council at last evening's meeting that the superintendent of the Mount Eden Fire Brigade, Mr. J. E. Williams, was resigning. He has been made a life member of the brigade. The new superintendent will be Mr. C. R. Surman. ' The Mayor, Mr. E. H. Potter, in moving that the board's appreciation of Mr. Williams' long and valuable services be conveyed to him, stated Mr. Williams had been a member of the brigade since its Inception 39 years ago, and was the only original member now associated with the force. He had rendered exceptionally long and valuable service to (he brigade and deserved recognition. The motion was carried unanimously.
