MUSIC IN ENGLAND.

"CERTAINLY AT LOW EBB." TRINITY COLLEGE EXAMINER. To conduct examinations in music for Trinity College. London, Mr. E. Lowe arrived from Vancouver by the Niagara yesterday. Although this is Mr. Lowe's first visit to the Dominion, he has travelled in all parts of the world, and has examined over 50,000 students. Mr. Lowe spoke of the new tendency in music as expressed by many modern, composers, who often went to extremes to gain effect. He believed this phase would be short-lived, and the people of the United Kingdom, particularly, would once again demand the compositions of the famous old composers. Music in England was certainly afc a low ebb. The number of peple appreciating it and those willing to materially assist in placing it before the public were gradually dwindling. Broadcasting possibly had some effect on the poor attendances at concerts, but he was optimistic enough to believe there would shortly be a decided improvement.
