OBITUARY.
MRS. A. 0. KNIGHT. The death of Mts. Knight, wife of Dr. A. Osborne Knight, aged 68, occurred at Mount Albert on Sunday. Born in Auckland/ Mrs. Knight was the eldest daughter of Mr. G. W. Owen, a former shipping merchant, who arrived at Auckland in the previous year by the ship Prince Edward from Prince Edward Island, Canada. Mrs. Knight was married in 1884. She took an active part in many social and religious organisations, being president of the Y.W.C.A. and vice-president of the W.C.T.U. for some years. She was also a member of the committee of the Manurewa Children's Home, and was actively connected with Baptist Sunday school work. During the war Sirs. Knight was an indefatigable Red Cross worker. She had been in indifferent health for the past four years. Mrs. Knight is survived by her husband, three sons and four daughters. The members of the family are:— Dr. Allan Knight, Mount Roskill; Mr. W. O. Knight, Te Puke; Mr. Cedric L. Knight, Rotorua; Mrs. Percy Gwilliam. England: Mrs. F. M. Stephenson, Mount Albert; Mrs. A. B. Wilson, Epsom: and Miss Beryl Knight, Mount Albert. There are 14 grandchildren. MR. THOMAS COLLINS. The death has occurred of Mr. Thomas Collins, aged 89, of 29, Graham Street, City. Born in Dublin, Mr. Collins spent several years at sea and he came to NewZealand in the Gladiator in 1850, landing at Nelson. Later ho settled at Port Chalmers, where ho married. Then he came to Auckland and established a business in Wakefield Street, which ho conducted for about two years. His next venture was at Parihaka, Taranaki, where he supplied provisions to the settlers until the raids of marauding Maoris forced him to leave. He returned to Auckland and set up in business in Lome Street, most of his customers being soldiers stationed here. Later Mr. Coliins was in business in different parts of New Zealand and Australia, and ha returned to Auckland in 1900. He is survived by his widow. MRS. ISABEL PETERKEN. The death has occurred of Mrs. Isabel Peterken, of Papatoetoe, who was born in the Hutt district 81 years ago. Mrs. Peterken's parents arrived at Wellington in 1840, and Mrs. Peterken was the youngest daughter. She married Mr. F. H. Peterken in April, 1869. and they lived in different, parts of the Dominion. Mrs. Peterken is survived by her husband, who is 86 years of age, and there are 11 children, 24 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. CAPTAIN MARK FURNEAUX. [BV TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] ■ NELSON. Monday. The death occurred at Neison to-day of Captain Mark Furneaux, formerly of the Anchor Shipping Company, and for many years harbourmaster at Westport. Since his retirement Captain Furneaux has been living at Port Nelson.
