REPRESENTATIVE TEAM.

THE MATCH NEXT SATURDAY. SURPRISES IN SELECTION. The following players have been chosen by tho Rugby League selectors, Messrs. E. Fox, H. Avery and E. Asher. to represent Auckland against South Auckland at Carlaw Park next Saturday:— Fullback.—Dufty (Newton). Threequarters—L. Scott (Devonport), Seagar (Devonport), List (Kingsland). Five-eighths—Wetherill (City), Gregory (Marist). Half —Peckham (Ponsonby). Forwards—Moisley (Marist), Somcrs (Newton), Hutt (Ponsonby), Payne (Ponsonby), Clarke (Newton), A. Scott (Devonport). Reserves—Backs, Prentice (.Richmond), Hardgrave (Newton), Brisbane (Marist), Webb (Devonport); forwards, Kuby (Devonport), St. George (Devonport). As far as the forwards are concerned the selectors seem to have_ chosen about the best talent available. Without doubt it is a strong division end should give a good j account of itself next Saturday. When I players of the calibre of Henry and Rhodes, of Newton, fail to gain a place, even among the emergencies, the strength of the vanguard can well bo imagined. Both these players were in great form in the match against Marist on Saturday. It is in the back division, however, the selection will cause a few surprises. Coming to the position of fullback it was clearly evident there were only two players in the running, Dufty (Newton) and Gregory (Marist). On account of his powerful kicking Dufty has apparently gained preference over Gregory, and most enthusiasts will agree that as an all-round fullback the honours must go to the Newton man. Gregory is a very clever player and the selectors apparently were bent on making room for him in the five-eighths line. Whether this is a sound policy or not will have to he proved, but with Delgrosso in such fine form, ho must be considered very unlucky to bo passed over. Then again, Brisbane has been omitted from the three-quarter line in favour of Seagar, who plays fivo-eighth for his club. Brisbane is playing at the top of his form at the present time. On Saturday his sound defence saved Marist time and again, while in a combined back-line he is a very capable attacking player, bursting _ through openings in great style. His experience and ability to grasp opportunities quickly would have been of valuable assistance to the team. As regards the other members of the back division there is nothing to cavil at in' the selection, as on their play they were all assured of places in the team. GAMES IN WAIKATO.
