POLITICS IN FRANCE.
NEW CHAMBER SITTING. CHANGE IN THE PERSONNEL. GROUPS ABOUT THE SAME. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received June 3, 5.55 p.m.) PARIS, June 2. The French Foreign Minister. M. Briand, was present to-day when the new Chamber of Deputies assembled. He looked pale and thin after his illness. The proceedings were very brief, consisting merely of a speech by the " father of the Chamber," M. Sibille, who is over 80. years of age, and who occupied the presidential chair until a President of the Chamber was elected. M. Sibille laid stress upon tho importance of a continuation of national unity. Tho House presented a fresh aspect with half the old members gone, but there was little change in the groups. It is regarded as practically certain that M. Loucheur will succeed M. Fallieres as Minister of Labour, the latter having been defeated at the recent general election.
