DEATH BY POISONING.

FOREST OF DEAN CASE. WIFE ON TRIAL FOR MURDER. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received June 1, • 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 31. The trial of Mrs. Beatrice Pace, aged 35, on the charge of murdering her husband, Harry Pace, aged 36, who was a farm' r in the Forest of Dean, has been begun at Coleford, Gloucestershire. He died on January 10 from the effects of poison, and, after a coroner's inquiry that lasted 19 weeks, Mrs. Pace was arrested as the result of the verdict of the jury. He had been ill at frequent intervals after his life was insured in 1924. Counsel for the Crown said the deceased man Pace was of a peculiar temperament, lie had attacked his wife with a pair of tongs on Christmas Day. When their daughter had intervened, Pace picked up a razor and threatened the family. At least three doses of a poisonous drug had been administered to him between Christmas' Day and the date of his death. Mrs. Pace bought two packets of sheep dip on July 22, 1927. After the death of her husband the police found only one packet. They also found a bottle containing a liquid in which there was some of the drug.
