week-end weather. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:—Mainly fair to fine weather is expected during tho week-end over most of the Dominion, but unsettled at times in East Coast districts and Southern areas, with scattered showers. Southerly to south-easterly winds, moderate to strong, squally in districts near the eastern coast. Very cold nights, with frosts inland. Seas fairly rough in Cook Strait and on the east coast, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Barometric pressure is increasing gradually. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 29.70 in. Midnight, Thursday .. .. 29.70 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last, evening as follows: —The depression located north-east of the Auckland Peninsula has apparently depressed to-day. An anti-cyclone extends from southern New Zealand to eastern Australia. Indications are for southerly winds, moderate generally, but strong and squally at places on the east coast north from Capo Campbell. Rather rough seas 011 the eastern coast; elsewhere moderate. Moderate to fresh southerly winds, with moderate seas in the Eastern Tasnian Sea, but rather rough seas in the northern portion. Weathei* mainly fair to fine in the west coast districts south of . Cape Egmont; elsewhere still somewhat unsettled with scattered showers. Somo heavy falls are likely on the east coast "of (lie North Inland, but conditions should improve.
