CONTESTS IN DUNEDIN. AN AUSTRALIAN SECURED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN COItEESPOKDENT. ] DUNEDIN. Friday. The wisdom of the Otago Boxing Association's action in despatching Mr. Jack Kiimartin to Australia to endeavour to obtain suitable boxers to appear in DunediD has already been fruitful, and boxing followers will hail with delight the news that [Tommy Barber, ex-Australian feather-weight champion, will shortly be in Duuedin to engage Johnny Leckie, feather-weight champion of New Zealand, and probably Tommy Griffiths. Barber and his trainer, Pat O'Connor, had booked their passages for Dunedin a few weeks ago, but were held up on account of Barber's contract with the Sydney Stadium for two further contests. On arrival in Sydney Mr. Kiimartin interviewed the Stadium authorities, and to-day a cablegram was received by Mr. H. Divers, secretary of the Otago Boxing Association, to the effect that Barber had been secured after a hard struggle, and that he also hoped to obtain the services of another boxer to meet Leckie. Barber is expected to leave in about a fortnight's time, so that he should be appearing in a Dtinedin ring in about four or five ■weeks.
