POWER BOARD CHARGES.
Sir, —I am pleased to see the question of Power Board charges being discussed. The charge of 5d per unit for the small consumer frequently falls on very poor people, say an aged couple, existing on the old-ago pension. Perhaps the board's reply is that very small amounts are not worth bothering about and that they run (he power supply as a trading concern. That is wrong, for the electrical supply is a public utility. The, board's policy may be business, but it is wrong to charge the poor so heavily and the rich, large consumer at so light a rate when the board's surplus for each year is so substantial. Public Utility.
