The election of an assessor to represent ■the Franklin County on tho Assessment Comt resulted in I lie return of Mr. Lobert Lyons, of Mangatawhiri Valley. There were three nominations for the position, anrl a public meeting of ratepayers of the county was held at the county office this morning to elect one of the number. The voting resulted: —Mr. •Lyons. 22 votes: Mr. H. E. K- L. Wily, 20; Mr. Edward Morgan, 2.
